The net-zero downstream asset of the future will address the dual challenge of sustainable manufacturing and profitability.  If there is one thing we have learned in the past 18 months, it is that the smart plant of the future will need to support manufacturing agility, which includes the need to quickly adjust operations to address changing demand, changing pricing, and changing external sustainability drivers.  This will mean the future plant will be more complex than ever and will need to closely integrate with the overall enterprise and regional value chain.  This will call for mobilization of an ever increasing amount of sensor data and more and more effective use of industrial AI to automate optimization, safety, monitoring, planning and sustainability functions.  This paper will discuss what this plant will look like, based on the innovations and strategies that AspenTech has been working with industry early-adopters on.
