Thanks to its numerous applications and practical use, plastic is one of the world’s most-used materials. Indeed, since 1950 more than 9 billion tons of plastic has been produced, and the worldwide plastic production is expected to continue growing exponentially. This exponential growth leads to an environmental concern, as close to half of all plastic has ended up in landfill or dumped in the wild, but also to a resource concern as today only 5% of the plastic produced comes from recycled plastic. To face these challenges, Axens and its mother company IFPEN are developing new eco-efficient solutions to chemically recycle plastics with objective to overcome the conventional mechanical recycling limitations. In this presentation Axens will showcase these solutions, advanced projects and also present how to plan development of a plastic chemical recycling project
