Partha Maitra directs strategic planning and sustainability initiatives for the Oil-to-Chemical business at the Reliance Industries Ltd., including transitioning Jamnagar refinery towards Crude Oil to Chemical or COTC and Net Zero emissions. Started his career at Fluor, Houston, working on energy efficiency projects for 2 flagship ExxonMobil refineries, modernization projects at multiple BP refineries and resid upgrading at Shell refinery, all in the US. Conceptualized the Mangalore Refinery & Petrochemicals project or MRPL, including detailed project report preparation, technology licensors selection & project contractor selection. Responsible since inception for the project development, business optimization & technology selection for the Jamnagar supersite, with integrated refinery, petrochemicals, and pet coke gasification. Jamnagar is the world’s largest refinery with high energy efficiency, petrochemical intensity, and complexity. Now focussed on the ‘Net Zero’ journey of Jamnagar targeting 2035 for eliminating emissions. Has professional experience spanning 46 years. Partha Maitra has Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Houston, USA, MS from Rice University, USA, and B. Tech. from IIT, Bombay.
